Overview
Congratulations
to Miss Ma Mingyan and Class 2009 Section 5, the two winners of the 2008 Overseas
Foundation Social Contribution Award! After three months of
preparation and information collection, the Overseas Foundation Executive
Committee has made the decision to award the two winners for their exceptional
contributions to the community demonstrated through their extracurricular
activities.
The
Social Contribution Award is a scholarship set up by the Fudan Fuzhong Overseas
Foundation to recognize current Fuzhong students for their special contribution
to communities outside of the school and family and to encourage them to serve
as role models in inspiring peers in their civic life.
During
the selection process, the executive committee considered a number of factors,
including past personal contribution, commitment as well as future impact of
the candidate's social causes, in determining a candidate's
qualifications.
Winners' Profile
The
Overseas Foundation received applications from five individuals and three
groups this year. We believe every applicant has made significant contribution
to the community and demonstrated exceptional capabilities and dedication.
Unfortunately the Overseas Foundation could only award two of the applicants.
We encourage those who did not win this year to continue contributing to their
worth causes and to reapply next year as their projects develop and their
responsibilities grow.
We
are very impressed by Miss Ma Mingyan's persistent responsibility for the
community, and leadership of the Community Service Department of Fudan Fuzhong.
Her care for students in Hunan, and start-up program for kids outside of
Shanghai were expanded to younger classes and greater areas. As a leader with
creativity and dedication, Miss Ma is well recognized for her contribution both
in the school and the community.
We
award Class 2009 Section 5 for their love and long-standing commitment of
volunteering teaching in much needed Guizhou Province. The Overseas Foundation
were very impressed by how each individual of their class played an important
role in serving the community, and wish they continue to make a difference for
the community.
The
executive committee sincerely hopes that the winners will take this award as a
token of appreciation from the overseas alumni who have made this award
possible. We also hope that Miss Ma and Class 2009 Section 5 will take
advantage of this award to further contribute to the worthy cause.
