The Fudan Fuzhong Overseas Foundation held its fifth annual fundraising luncheon at Cara Mia, New York on March 26, 2011. 44 alumni and friends joined the event and showed their support. It was a great opportunity for the participants to stay connected with old friends and to make new ones.
Nikita Guo and Annie Zhou, Co-Directors at Rural China Education Foundation (RCEF), delivered the keynote speech. Established in 2005, RCEF is an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education for people in rural China that empowers them to improve their lives and communities.
Following the keynote speech, Minhua Zhang ('00), director of fundraising, reported key achievements and financial results of the previous calendar year, and outlined new initiatives for the upcoming year. Since 2007, the foundation has initiated three scholarship programs, including the "Social Contribution Award", the "Performing Arts Award", and the "Give-A-Hand Scholarship". In 2010, the foundation successfully established the student resource center "知缘阁" on campus, which enhances students' learning experiences by providing foreign language books and new computers. The foundation is also in the process of upgrading school's chemistry laboratory by installing new scientific instruments.
As with past years, the event was a great success. Over US$7,000 was received and pledged during the marketing of this event. The Foundation would like to thank the generous donation from each and every friend and alumni of the school. If you wish to get more information about the Foundation, make a donation, or shop to help, please visitwww.fdfzalumni.org.
